MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The National Cotton Council (NCC) appreciates the Trump Administration for recognizing the serious economic pressures facing America’s cotton producers and the broader farm economy in the supplemental funding request transmitted to Congress.
“We are grateful to President Trump for acknowledging the financial challenges confronting our farm families and for taking action to provide near-term economic relief,” said Nathan Reed, NCC Chairman. “This assistance is a welcome and meaningful step as growers work to remain viable heading into the 2026 harvest. At the same time, NCC remains committed to the cotton industry’s long-term stability, and the Buying American Cotton Act, which has strong support in Congress and from USDA, is central to that effort.”
We urge the Administration and Congress to advance this request, and we look forward to working with them to ensure cotton’s priorities are addressed. Economic assistance helps address today’s pressures, but rebuilding long-term demand for U.S. cotton is essential to our industry’s future.
