Jim Davis to Become Southern Cotton Growers, Inc. next CEO

By: Joe Martin, President, Southern Cotton Growers, Inc.

It is with great pleasure that I announce the hiring of Jim Davis of New Market, Alabama as the next CEO of Southern Cotton Growers, Inc.  Raised on a 5th generation family farm which includes cotton as their primary crop, Jim will be only the fourth CEO of the organization that was founded in 1964.  Current CEO, Dave Ruppenicker will retire on December 31, 2023.  Jim will officially come on board October 1st.  Southern Cotton Growers, Inc. represents every cotton producer in the six states that comprise the Southeast Region (AL, FL, GA, NC, SC & VA).

Jim comes to the organization with a wealth of knowledge and experience having been employed by National Cotton Council for over 30-years.  His responsibilities among others include, collaborating and building consensus among cotton organizations in addressing industry needs and researching a satisfactory resolve to these matters.

I feel confident that through Jim’s leadership, the organization will continue to prosper and uphold the motto of maintaining prosperity for the Southeast cotton producer.  He will no doubt leave his mark in the storied legacy of this 6-decade old organization.
