Georgia Cotton Commission Welcomes Announcement of Harvest Fuel Relief Program

On October 19, the Trump Administration and USDA Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced plans for the Harvest Fuel Relief (HFR) program that will offer one-time payments to American farmers to offset fuel costs during the 2026 harvest season. The $8 billion program will act similarly to the Farmer Bridge Assistance (FBA) program and will release commodity-specific payment rates in November.

GCC Chairman Bart Davis, a cotton producer from Colquitt County, stated, “Compared to last year, farmers in Georgia and across the country are paying significantly more for fuel. As we are currently harvesting, we don’t have the choice to cut costs by not running equipment. We’re appreciative to the Trump Administration and Secretary Rollins for their effort to offset fuel increases when farmers need it most.”

The Georgia Cotton Commission is a producer-funded organization located in Perry, Georgia. The Commission began in 1965. Georgia cotton producers pay an assessment enabling the Commission to invest in programs of research, promotion, and education on behalf of all cotton producers of Georgia.
