Cotton Commission Appreciative of CR Vote

The Georgia Cotton Commission is appreciative of the recent passage of the continuing resolution that included both disaster assistance and direct economic assistance for cotton producers and is hopeful that the United States Department of Agriculture will implement these programs soon.

Georgia Cotton Commission Chairman Bart Davis, a cotton producer from Colquitt County, said, “this assistance is critical for farmers in Georgia and across the nation who are facing insolvency due to high costs of production and unsustainable commodity markets.”  Davis also commented that most members of Georgia’s bipartisan congressional delegation voted in favor of the agreement and thanked them for their support.  He urged congressional leaders to come together quickly in 2025 to pass an updated Farm Bill that will adequately support farmers and rural communities.
