April 2026
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Georgia Cotton Commission (GCC) commends members of the United States House of Representatives for it’s recent passage of the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026, commonly referred to as Farm Bill 2.0. If passed by the Senate, this legislation will bring long awaited updates to producer safety net. The Commission would also like to acknowledge House Agriculture Committee Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson of Pennsylvania and Vice Chairman Austin Scott of Georgia for their efforts in developing this bipartisan legislation.
Georgia Cotton Commission Chairman Bart Davis, a cotton producer from Colquitt County, stated, “We are appreciative to the House, especially the Georgia members, for recognizing that cotton producers and farmers of all commodities across the nation are in trouble and coming together to pass the Farm Bill.” He later added, “I urge the Senate take up this legislation soon and that both houses consider the Buying American Cotton Act (BACA).”
